And also if you move industries to other countries it’s still the same reliance of the USA on still OTHER countries. Is it the ethnicity of the number 2 economy that’s so unpalatable to you people? There’s a word for this: racism. This has nothing to do with the CCP. The direct effect of tariffs will be more jobless Chinese citizens. Very productive indeed.

I really fail to see their logic. Can't they see the trend? Can't they see 36 trillion of debt, polarized society, decaying infrastructure a huge finacial bubble. They need tarifs to protect an inefficient production. 🤔

What's the end game here? Do you think a technological gap of 10 years in semiconductors is insurmountable by a adversary who has 10 times more engineers and scientists than you?

Maybe you think they can't advance because they're not intellectually capable of inventing.

lol the truth is - policy inertia is driving this, kneecap china in legacy chips because our prior policy was failing. Can’t compete with industrial policy (see Intel disaster) or free markets, so tariffs and sanctions! Underlying this is fear that China is out executing and out competing the U.S.; ironically they don’t consider how their recommendations would wreck high tech industry globally

This semiconductor sanctions and tariff policy is creating minimal actual gains in U.S. security, creating a lot of economic and inflationary issues, and making China the semiconductor champion they originally feared…by forcing Chinese semi suppliers and their customers into a shotgun marriage
